Diseases
Fin Rot
Fin rot is most likely not going to occur in well kept aquariums. Fin rot is caused by an excess amount of bacteria in the aquarium that should have normally been taken care of with weekly water changes. Symptoms are violent on the fish including blood streaked and ragged fins and will eventually eat away the whole fin of the sick fish. Treatment can be found most local pet stores.

White Spot
White spot disease is a disease that most fish caregivers will have to face at some point. The white spot disease is a protozoan parasite, making it extremely contagious and when left untreated deadly. The symptoms that appear on tropical fish are sugar grain like spots all over the fish's body and fins; also, the fish may also rub along the bottom of the fish tank frequently. Treatment is available for a rather cheap price tag, but the whole aquarium must be treated, not just one fish.
