Common Diseases
Velvet
Velvet is very similar to white spot disease, the only difference is the spots are more like a sprinkling white/grayish flour as opposed to white spot's that look like sugar grains. Velvet is caused by poor aquarium water quality which allow the build-up of nitrates and ammonia. Treatment can be found at most local pet stores and should be treated immediately.

Dropsy
Although dropsy can be classified as a disease it is much rather a symptom than a disease. Dropsy can have many causes, many of which are untreatable. These symptoms can include: bloated body and/or protruding scales. The causes of this can be from a internal tumor, bacterial infection, and/or internal infection. Although there is treatment available which claim they can rid the disease, successful treatment is very unlikely.
