Diseases
Neon Tetra Disease
Neon tetra disease, despite its name, effects all types of tetra species. This disease is actually quite common in most household aquarium environments, way more common then most fish enthusiasts realize. The disease can develop after a fish consumes infected material such as live food (tubifex), or bodies of dead fish. Once the infected material enters the intestinal system, newly hatched embryos attach themselves deep into the intestinal wall and produce cysts. Muscles containing cysts will begin to shut down and tissue becomes pale. Symptoms can include, restlessness, loss of coloration, body becomes lumpy, fish has difficult swimming, and most often fin rot occurs. When you notice these symptoms, remove fish from aquarium immediately so infection does not spread.

Dropsy
Although dropsy can be classified as a disease it is much rather a symptom than a disease. Dropsy can have many causes, many of which are untreatable. These symptoms can include: bloated body and/or protruding scales. The causes of this can be from a internal tumor, bacterial infection, and/or internal infection. Although there is treatment available which claim they can rid the disease, successful treatment is very unlikely.
